I started my career in marketing a million years ago, before meeting my husband and having a family. I very quickly realized that I wasn’t great at being a stay at home mum and needed something more to stimulate my brain. Long story short I ended up buying a florist store in Camberwell that was open 7 days a week 24/7 and was like being in control of a runaway truck!!! It was a very steep learning curve and set me up to be able to manage many projects at once, including raising 2 active boys. One of my favorite things about those days was working in weddings and events creating different schemes for my clients, working with tight budgets and unrealistic expectations sets you up to become a master of organization!Fast forward to working in Interiors for many years, Sandy and I decided to open a creative space together as we were starting to see the need for content for small businesses to drive their social medias etc. So with a combination of my styling and interiors knowledge and Sandy’s photography The Studio Melbourne was conceived. It was a humble beginning in a tiny space in Elsternwick that basically had 1 feature wall and a bank of industrial style windows but man did we churn out some ripper shoots! We lasted 2 years in that little space before taking the plunge and moving to our current space in Moorabbin. Because of my background in Floristry, event styling, interior design and interior styling I understand how important it is to have lots of interesting props to work with when styling, be it an event or a styled shoot, so I have taken a lot of time collecting lots of interesting bits and bobs that are available for use when you book our space. Vintage furniture and collectibles has also been my jam as I truly believe no space or image really comes to life without something a little bit “worn and interesting” in it. That and something from nature either plant or floral and you’re getting there. These days you will find me mainly down on the Mornington Peninsula working on my new passion a mid century beach house that I am LOVING! If everything goes to plan this gem will also be available for lifestyle shoots in the not too distant future. If there’s a project that you need with that you think aligns with my aesthetic and experience please get in touch.
